The Director of Digital Development is responsible for the development and execution of daily social content and engagement strategy across CGTN America channel.

The candidate should be able to identify and advice on good stories in data, parse and present in interesting ways to users. Expertise in data analysis and visualization, interactive design, charts and infographics, audience engagement, video, photography and sound are all skills applicants should possess. Thorough understanding of the relationships of social media to site traffic, video streams and general content consumption.

The candidate should have a proven track record of overseeing creative development, production, and implementation of social campaigns that drive engagement for high profile brands or franchises.

Experience managing teams, mentoring, and providing creative guidance to all level managers, producers, and designers

In addition to content creation and management, this includes social marketing and content distribution campaigns supporting CGTV America overall goal.


· Responsible for all content production for all digital media output for CGTN America

· Create innovative content and product in support of future initiatives

· Manage all social media engagement

· Optimizing content for social sharing with the goal of building an engaging the digital audience

· Liaise with CGTN America/CGTN’s TV programming, etc.


The primary role is to manage all digital news producers. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent news judgment and writing skills.


– BA/BS degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications or related field strongly preferred

– 5+ years working experience in news digital platforms

– 3+ years of management experience within a digital production department

– Proficient in PHP and JavaScript, HTML5, CSS

-Skill in jQuery and other programming languages for creating mapping, data visualization and interactive graphics a plus

-Proficient in Photoshop and Premiere (or similar non-linear program)

-Mobile development, including responsive design

-Design, develop and maintain software for the company website, and other digital platforms

-Contribute to the deployment of code to test, staging and live environments

-Ability to juggle multiple tasks and switch gears quickly

-Writing and editing stories for presentation on website and digital platforms

-Experience creating posts for and managing multiple social media channels

-SEO techniques, Google Analytics and digital trends

-Knowledge of and interest in international news

-Flexibility to work various shifts and holidays, as needed

-Motivated self-starter who is able to work independently and in a team environment

-Maintain awareness of the best practices and trends in the wider digital sector and a second language are all pluses
